SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Despite the low Black Friday sales numbers this year, small businesses in Scarsdale had a big turnout for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29, reports the Westchester Business Journal.

Gary Holsten of Holsten Jewelers said his company offered a 25 percent discount on all watches in stock on Nov. 29, and shoppers responded well to the discount. Holsten and other business owners say Scarsdale’s “buy local” study and marketing campaign had a huge effect on the support of local businesses according to the report.
