The company, which outgrew its Bethel headquarters, is the umbrella company that produces a broad range of brands, including Schwinn, Mongoose, RoadMaster, Kid Trax and Cannondale.

The new building includes design elements to facilitate bicycle research, development, engineering and marketing. Other features include a natural plant wall and a bistro café. The building was designed with sustainable elements, including an “eco-roof” with solar panels.

"As Cannondale Sports Unlimited's rapid growth continues, it's critical that we have a world-class location for our employees to do their best work," Cannondale CEO and president Bob Baird said in a statement. "With this new location we have created an inspiring environment for creativity and innovation, where employees can focus on designing, engineering and marketing our products, which include the best bicycles in the world."

The company in May announced a 10-year, $3 million loan from the state at 2 percent interest to relocate. If the company creates 75 new jobs at the site in four years, $2 million of the loan will be forgiven.
