Hemel will begin seeing patients Friday in the Harrison office at 600 Mamaroneck Ave.
Hemel obtained her undergraduate degree from Williams College in Massachusetts. After graduation, she spent a year as a Fulbright Fellow in Israel. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Hemel completed her internal medicine residency at New York University/Bellevue Hospital and is board-certified in internal medicine.
Prior to joining Scarsdale Medical Group, Hemel was an academic hospitalist at Montefiore Medical Center and an instructor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
In addition to supervising patient care, she was integrally involved in medical student and resident education. She also has participated in research projects at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania.
“The addition of Dr. Hemel as a primary care physician complements our existing group of internal medicine providers and specialists,” says SMG managing partner Dr. Kenneth Croen. “She will continue our mission of providing individualized, high-quality care delivered with compassion and respect."
