County officials are calling the announcement a "major boost to Westchester's reputation as the premier location for businesses."

The announcement was made by County Executive Robert P. Astorino who announced that Westchester's Industrial Development Agency (IDA) approved a series of incentives that will help MasterCard with the renovation and expansion.

The project includes the renovation of the company's 475,000 square-foot headquarters at 2000 Purchase St. and the expansion of its presence at 100 Manhattanville Road. The project will create more than 270 new permanent positions at MasterCard as well as maintain existing jobs in Purchase and create construction jobs, county officials said.

BCW Chairman Stephen Jones, who is a member of the IDA board, seconded the motion approving the incentives for MasterCard. BCW Executive Committee Member Wiley Harrison also serves on the IDA Board.

"The Business Council is absolutely thrilled that MasterCard, one of the world's leading corporations and a long-time member of the Business Council, has recommitted to Westchester. We at the Business Council are committed to making Westchester a business friendly environment where companies, both large and small, can grow, create more jobs and add to the county's economic vitality," said BCW President and CEO Marsha Gordon. "We applaud County Executive Astorino and the Westchester IDA Board for their leadership in making Westchester a great place to do business. We also congratulate MasterCard Senior Vice President Shawn Miles, who serves on our Board of Directors. This is a great day for Westchester County."
