The Philharmonic Academy Jr. Program is designed for pre-college age students and led by Philharmonic musicians in partnership with institutions in New York committed to strong orchestra programs.
Hoff-Barthelson has had a twenty-year relationship with the New York Philharmonic through its Elaine Stamas New York Philharmonic Educational Residency, which annually brings four Philharmonic members to the school’s Scarsdale campus to coach sixteen HBMS chamber ensembles.
As part of the new Philharmonic Academy Jr. partnership, the HBMS Festival Orchestra members will have the opportunity to be coached by Philharmonic members during a rehearsal at the school and will attend a Philharmonic rehearsal and post-rehearsal discussion at the Lincoln Center.
The Festival Orchestra’s Winter Concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Community Unitarian Church, at 468 Rosedale Avenue in White Plains. For more information and to purchase tickets, send an email to hb@hbms.org or call 914-723-1169.
Established in 1944, Hoff-Barthelson is a nationally recognized institution enrolling more than 1, 800 students from fifty townships in the metropolitan area. 90 members of its faculty include some of the nation’s most distinguished performers and music educators.
