Two stores in New York and one in New Jersey appear to be among the more than 50 Sears and Kmart stores nationwide headed for closure in the coming months as Sears Holdings tries to slow company losses, according to CBS News.
Sears stores in Utica and Staten Island, as well as Vineland, N. J., made the partial list identified through media reports by Consumer Media, a nonprofit arm of Consumer Reports. Sears officials haven't identified which stores are closing though they do say liquidation sales have started and employees have been notified, CBS News reports.
Analysts are questioning whether this move is enough to help the struggling retailer, CBS News says.
