WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Business Council of Westchester is calling for nominations for its Business Hall of Fame awards.
The annual awards program recognizes the lifetime achievements of Westchester County businesses in five categories: small business, entrepreneurs, corporate citizenship, family-owned companies and women in business, all described below.
The deadline for submissions is Jan. 22. Nominations can be made online .
“This is an exciting opportunity to nominate a client, colleague, vendor or friend who has made significant contributions to the Westchester business community,” said Dr. Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of The Business Council of Westchester in a statement.
The winners will be honored at the Westchester County Business Hall of Fame Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 23 at the Glen Island Harbor Club in New Rochelle. For more information, call 914-948-2110.
The categories are described as follows:
The Corporate Citizenship Award is presented to a company that has made a significant contribution and commitment to the Westchester community.
The Entrepreneurial Success Award is presented to an individual or company that began as a small business and has since developed and grown into a larger one. Judges consider growth in the number of employees and increase in annual sales, innovativeness of product or service provided, contributions and commitment to the community and evidence of building a more sustainable, or green, business.
The Small Business Success Award is presented to an individual or small business that displays strong "staying power," including a substantiated history as an established business, with a trend of growth.
The Women in Business Success Award is presented to a woman who has achieved a high level of success in business. She must demonstrate leadership as a business owner or an executive in a corporation.
The Family Business Success Award is presented to a business that demonstrates positive results by combining a winning business strategy with a strong family work ethic.
