Author Letty Cottin Pogrebin To Speak In Scarsdale

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Author and activist Letty Cottin Pogrebin will be the guest speaker at the fall dinner for the Women of Reform Judiasm in Scarsdale.

Pogrebin will speak at the dinner at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, according to a press release. Pogrebin will speak about “Jewish Women in 2013,” in addition to surveying "the changes in Jewish women’s roles over the past 50 years" and highlighting her book, 'How to be a Friend to a Friend Who’s Sick,' according to the release. 

"A founding editor and writer for Ms. Magazine, Pogrebin is also the author of ten books, among them two memoirs – 'Getting Over Getting Older,' and 'Deborah, Golda, and Me: Being Female and Jewish in America' – and the novel, 'Three Daughters,' " representatives said in the release. "She is also the consulting editor of Marlo Thomas’ anthology, 'Free to Be, You and Me and Free to Be...A Family.' In addition, Pogrebin has published articles and op-eds in The New York Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, among other publications."

Porgrebin serves on the board of Americans for Peace Now, the Ms. Foundation for Education & Communication, The Free to Be Foundation, the Harvard Divinity School Women Studies in Religion Program, and the Brandeis University Women's and Gender Studies Program, according to the release. 

This evening is hosted by the Women of Reform Judaism at the Westchester Reform Temple and is open to the public at Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale. Reservations are required with checks payable to WRJ. The cost for the event is $27 for WRJ members and $36 for non-members.
