Author To Lecture In Scarsdale On Family Struggles

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – New York Times reporter John Schwartz will hold a lecture, book signing and question-and-answer session at the Jewish Community Center of Mid-Westchester on Dec. 2.

Schwartz, the author of “Oddly Normal, One Family’s Struggle to Help Their Teenage Son Come to Terms With His Sexuality” will be at the JCC , on the Scarsdale-New Rochelle border, at 2 p.m.

The memoir depicts the story of a family with a homosexual child. The goal of the book is to help the parents of anyone who is different learn that they can find their place in the world and can fit in.

“Adolescence can be such a vulnerable time,” Schwartz said in a recent article. “Being different can feel like something between a crime and a disease.”

Larchmont author Jacques Steinberg, the author of “The Gatekeepers” and “You Are An Ironman” will introduce Schwartz. Admission to the lecture is free, though pre-registration is required here.
