Yorktown Police Charge Jefferson Valley Woman In Cheese Theft

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a Jefferson Valley woman for stealing a package of cheese.

Police received a call from the manager of DeCicco’s Marketplace on Lee Street reporting a shoplifter in custody on Friday, Jan. 22, at 12:29 p.m., according to officials.

Officers were dispatched to the scene; their investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Barbara J. Quinn, 76, stole a package of Kraft cheese valued at $4.39 from the store, police report.

Quinn was arrested at the scene and transported to police headquarters, officials report.

She is charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

Following processing, Quinn was issued an appearance ticket directing her to answer the charge against her in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, Feb. 23, police report.

She was then released on her own recognizance, according to officials.
