Robert Wayne Taylor, 47, was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with handgun possession and presenting fake identification.

A trio of officers responded to the Extended Stay America Hotel on Route 17 North, where they found the 9mm Zoraki M-906 after obtaining a search warrant for Taylor’s second-floor room, Gurney told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The black firearm, with a chrome-colored slide, was “lying on top of the night stand directly next to the bed,” the chief said.

It was in a tan or beige-colored holster, near 50 rounds of what appeared to be blanks, he said.

The officers remained at the hotel until Taylor returned around 6 o’clock last night.

While arresting him, they found him carrying a bogus California driver’s license and fake Social Security card, Gurney said.
