Elias Leger, age 20, is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to his role in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Alan Jimenez in Lawrence in 2020, the office reports.

During his arraignment, Leger pleaded not guilty to murder, armed assault with intent to murder, assault & battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police found Jimenez dead in the driver's seat of a car after responding to the shooting in the area of Markey and Loring streets around 3:51 a.m. on March 1, 2020, the office reports. The shooting also paralyzed 19-year-old Angela Mateo, according to an article from The Eagle Tribune

"For the last two and a half years the State Police and Lawrence Police have worked tirelessly on this case," said Carrie Kimball, spokesperson for the DA's Office.

Leger was indicted on Sept. 21 and was incarcerated at MCI-Shirley on unrelated charges, Kimball added.
