SCARSDALE, N.Y. – On Thursday night, the Scarsdale Pool Complex is ditching towels and inner tubes in exchange for popcorn and candy as it hosts a family-friendly movie night for the community.
For the first time, the Scarsdale Recreation Department is closing the swimming pools and presenting “Movie Night, “ where they will screen "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" (PG-13) for free on a big screen.
Movie-goers will start being admitted at 8 p.m., and all pools will be closed at 8:30 p.m. The Matthew Broderick film will begin promptly at 9 p.m. O’Neill’s Snack Bar will be open before and during the movie.
Despite the hazardous weather that is anticipated this week, the National Weather Service is calling for a pleasant evening. There is a 20 percent chance of rain during the day, and temperatures are expected to cool to about 70 degrees at night.
In case of inclement weather, the show will be cancelled by 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Recreation Department is advising patrons to bring a blanket, chairs and bug repellent.
