The Greenburgh Nature Center is a leading environmental education and conservation center in Westchester, and this annual event includes the area’s only green-themed, sustainable egg hunt, according to a release from GNC. The event attracts nearly 1,500 attendees each year, the release said.

A toddler egg hunt (suggested for children ages 2 and under) will be held on the great lawn. Egg hunts for older children (suggested for children ages 3 and up) will take place on the Nature Center trails. All egg hunts will start every hour on the hour.

Other activities for the day will include:

  • Egg-themed crafts and a story-circle.
  • An exhibit of eggs from many different animals.
  • Animal presentations.
  • Guided walks through our Native Plant Meadow.

“The hunt for eggs is just the start of the fun,” said Anne Jaffe-Holmes, director of Conservation & Sustainability at the Greenburgh Nature Center. “Guided by skilled naturalist educators, visitors will encounter the bursting of buds into flower, the nesting of migratory and resident birds, tadpoles emerging from watery egg masses in Woodfrog Pond, and the awakening of our honeybee hives in our native flower meadow. This will be a delightful day of fun, learning and discovery for visitors of all ages.”

Early registration, before April 9, is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. The cost on the day of the event is $8 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

The event will be from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., rain or shine.
