GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh Nature Center’s Sustainability Coordinator and Educator, Rachel Becker organized a community trip to the local Material Recovery Facility (MRF) on Friday, Feb. 26.
The MRF, is the recycling hub for the majority of Westchester communities. Students, activists, engineers, town board members, community organizers, and volunteers joined together to learn about what happens to their recycling after they drop it on their curb and how to improve their own recycling practices.
Upcoming weekend events include the following:
- Sunday, Feb. 28, 2 p.m., Wild Nature Trivia: The inaugural nature trivia challenge which concludes with animal interactions. Members $5/person, Non-members $8/person.
- Saturday, March 5, 2 p.m., Wild Mosiacs: Make your own mosaic using natural materials. Members $5/person, Non-members $8/person
- Sunday, March 6: Maple Sugaring Party: Learn about how we tap our maple trees and transform sap into maple syrup while enjoying some tasty treats, crafts, and time with our animals. Pre-register online by March 5 and save.
