All participating families must reside in Midland Park. Santa will be delivering the gifts in the evening on the weekend around Dec. 18, with registration due no later than Dec. 13 at 4 p.m.

"We are hoping to serve some of the children,” said Mark Berninger, a fire department member. “It’s our first one, so it could be a small or a massive undertaking. We should know in a few days.”

South Plainfield started a similar project before the MPFD followed suit.

Donors can bring an inexpensive gift and a check made payable to "MPFD" to the Witte Drive Fire House on the following days:

-Fri., Dec. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

-Sat., Dec.12 from 12 - 4 p.m.

-Sun., Dec. 13 12-4 p.m.

There is a suggested $20 donation from each family.

Email the fire department for more information.
