The barber shop on South Street in Peekskill will start the drive at 7 p.m. Six participants will cut a minimum of 8 inches of hair to donate to KFM to make wigs for local patients who cannot afford to purchase their own human hair wigs, representatives said.

The drive will benefit the KFM Memorial Foundation's "Hair Because You Care" wig program.

The foundation was formed by the family of Kathleen F. Marks of Yorktown Heights to help fund cancer research, treatments, testing, clinical trials and vaccines in hope of helping find a cure.

"The money they raise individually or with team members will be used to pay for the custom human hair wigs to be made," representatives said. "In just a few weeks our participants and their teams have already raised nearly $1000, close to the cost of  one wig. The goal for this event is to have three wigs made for local patient use through The KFM Memorial Foundation."

Guests are invited to join the event and a $10 donation is suggested at the door. The evening event includes raffles and prizes

For additional information or to make a donation, residents are asked to visit the KFM Foundation website.
