Wilton 6 Black Edges Ridgefield, 13-6

WILTON, Conn. ? The Wilton Warriors 6th grade Black team scored its first touchdown after recovering the ball from Ridgefield on the second play of the game. QB Brian Calabrese handed off to Joe Murtha, who scored on a 20-yard run. Kyle Maatallah scored the extra point.

Ridgefield made several attempts to score, including a double reverse, but a great block by Chris Colbert and PJ Vogric forced Ridgefield into a third down situation. Wilton’s Big D ? AJ Pykosz, Drew Peterson, Jack DiNanno, Jamie Trentos, Will Hasting, Jake Beshlian, Alex Acosta-Rua, James Ciquera, Justin Quinn and Ethan Helman ­? held Ridgefield from scoring.

Wilton took possession with less than a minute in the quarter, and Calabrese handed off to Joseph Scarfi, who ran for 35 yards. A quick run by Ricky Tomasetti ended the quarter. In Q2, Wilton scored on a big play by Calabrese, who threw a 25-yard pass to Murtha, who ran 30 yards for his second touchdown. In Q3, Ridgefield scored its only touchdown to make it 13-6. Wilton continued driving the ball down the field with runs by Brendan Skewis and Nolan Quinn and great offensive plays by Eric Chubinsky, Riley Sexton and Kevin Lenihan.
