County Legislator Nomination Awaits Write-In Tally

RYE, N.Y. --The winner of the Independence Party primary for county legislator will not be determined until write-in ballots are counted Sept. 22.

Incumbent Judy Myers is being challenged by write-in candidate Suzanna Keith for the Independence Party nomination to run in the general election Nov. 8.

Myers currently represents the 7th District (Rye, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and sections of New Rochelle and Harrison).

Unofficial results show Myers has received 66 votes with 75 percent of districts reporting, according to the county board of elections.

Also, in the city council primary, incumbent Joseph Sack, Laura Brett and Rafael Elias-Linero all received their party's nomination, running unopposed for three seats.

Rye resident Jim Coyne came to Rye City Hall Tuesday to cast his vote. Coyne, a registered Independent, said he was supporting Keith for county legislator and wrote in her name on his ballot.

"I expect fiscal conservativeness," said Coyne. "And I want someone not overly aligned with the left or the right, but middle of the road."Did you vote in the Independence Party primary for county legislator and city council?
