Pelham Police Prepared for Halloween Antics

PELHAM, N.Y. – Pelham police prepared for the possibility of vandalism and other crimes on Halloween night.

Officer Brian Hendrie of the Pelham Police Department spoke to classes at both Colonial Elementary School and Hutchinson Elementary School last week to tell them about safety precautions on Halloween. He also spoke to sixth graders at Pelham Middle School.

Hendrie said the department talks to children about what to be aware of on Halloween night.

“Not everyone trick-or-treating that night in Pelham is from Pelham,” Hendrie said. “(We tell them to) be aware of what can happen.”

Hendrie said the department sends out regular patrols on Halloween night that pay close attention to those on the streets. He could not recall any major incidents around Halloween in recent years.

“We haven’t had anything crazy happen,” Hendrie said. “We just keep an eye out for the kids that are obviously not out trick-or-treating.”
