Center For Performing Arts At Rhinebeck Offers Adult Stage Combat Class

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- The Center For Performing Arts at Rhinebeck will kick off its new Adult Stage Combat class on Saturday.

Learn the basics of stage combat in this three-week workshop, including targeting, footwork, judging distance, "knapping" your hits and selling your choreography.

Learn how to throw a punch, swing a sword and learn to fall. Most importantly, learn to do it all safely. Participants will learn unarmed techniques and basic broadsword.

The workshop will end with a choreographed fight for each participant. The class will be taught by Risa Petrone, whose stage-combat credits include: "Camelot," "Equivocation," (fight director), The New York Renaissance Faire (fight performer), and "The Greatest Pirate Story (N)ever Told" (fight captain and performer, Off-Broadway).

Tuition for the class is $100. For ages 18 and up (under 18 with permission of instructor).

The classes will take place on the following Saturdays: March 5, 12 and 19 and will be from 9 - 11 a.m.
