Sungjae Song was being held without bail Saturday in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing, after victims identified him as the stalker.
Song, a South Korean national living in Palisades Park, is charged with aggravated sexual contact, three counts each of burglary and harassment and criminal trespassing.
Daily Voice was the first to post a police sketch Wednesday of a man who Police Chief Mark Jackson said broke into a 40-year-old Fourth Street woman's apartment at 5 a.m. June 18 while she was asleep and climbed into her bed.
"She rolled over and her face met his," the chief told Daily Voice at the time.
He asked if he could stay the night and the woman screamed, scaring him off, Jackson said.
Four other women had reported incidents.
One told police the same slim Asian man followed her into a Grand Avenue building, then knocked on her door and "made sexual comments" before fleeing, the chief said.
As detectives were interviewing her, another woman reported that she was walking along Roosevelt Place near the Shop Rite when the same man followed her and stood outside her house.
The woman's brother confronted the man, who said he was looking for an address but apparently was on the wrong street, Jackson said.
They called police after he took off, the chief said.
After the first story was published, another Palisades Park woman came forward with a report that the same man grabbed her arm while she was walking her dog on East Edsall Boulevard, made sexual comments and asked her to come with him on June 14, Jackson told Daily Voice.
Then came the woman who saw the sketch.
Jackson thanked Englewood Cliffs Police Capt. Brian Murphy for the sketch that led to Song's capture.

PALISADES PARK, N.J. (UPDATE) -- A fourth Palisades Park woman has come forward with a report that a stalker being hunted by police accosted her on the street.
The 30-something woman said the stalker grabbed her arm while she was walking her dog on East Edsall Boulevard, made sexual comments and asked her to come with him on June 14, Police Chief Mark Jackson told Daily Voice.
The new report follows a Daily Voice story on Wednesday of the stalker breaking into a sleeping woman's home and jumping into her bed.

The women all described their stalker as slim, Asian, about 5-foot-10 and in his 20s, with black hair covering his earlobes and black-rimmed glasses.
The chief asked that anyone who sees the man in the police sketch above, or has information that could help authorities, immediately call Palisades Park PD: (201) 944-0900.
He also urged citizens to "always keep your doors locked and be aware of your surroundings.
"If you see anything suspicious, always call police immediately," he said.
