Strong, Gusty Winds Cause Scattered Power Outages In Fairfield County

As of 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, seven outages were reported by United Illuminated, impacting 430 customers, including 402 in Shelton and five in Stratford.

A total of 170 of Eversource's Connecticut customers were still reporting outages, including some in Fairfield County.

Greenwich (62) was among Eversource’s hardest-hit areas, with other outages reported in Monroe, New Fairfield, Newtown, and Ridgefield.

Utility crews scrambled overnight to repair hundreds of other reported outages. Winds are still expected to be whipping during the day on Friday, with wind gusts approaching 20 mph with temperatures in the low 20s.
