Drunk Driver Strikes Pedestrian At Busy Long Island Intersection, Police Say

A Long Island man was arrested after allegedly seriously injuring a pedestrian while driving drunk.

Andrew Bonamico, age 58, of West Babylon, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 9, after his vehicle struck a woman who was crossing the roadway in West Babylon, said the Suffolk County Police.

According to police, Bonamico was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee northbound on Little East Neck Road when his vehicle struck a 48-year-old Amityville woman who was crossing the roadway at the intersection of Baur Street at approximately 6:50 p.m.d

The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Bonamico was charged with DWI and held overnight for arraignment on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
