Jedi, Animals and Music Highlight Children’s Programs at Scarsdale Library

SCARSDALE, July 18 – The Jedi Academy, animals from Green Meadows and music highlight upcoming events in the children’s program at the Scarsdale Public Library.

The programs begin on Monday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. when Chi-Chi Bestmann brings her viola and violin for pre-school children in another performance of Petite Concerts. 

At 7 p.m., David Engel brings the Jedi Academy to the library in a program filled with comic antics, exciting physical challenges, magical mayhem, light saber lessons. Children ages 4 and up can learn the ways of the Jedi with Panniken Moonjumper, a true master of intergalactic fun and adventure. 

Robert the Guitar Guy returns with his special brand of music on Tuesday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. Robert and his repertoire of more than 75 songs entertain young children up to age 5 as he conveys his delight in musical expression. 

Later that day at 4 p.m. it’s Dog Day Afternoon, a chance to pet and play with therapy dogs from the Good Dog Foundation. Participants can stop by for five minutes, or stay and play with furry friends for the whole hour. 

Jason from Green Meadows Farm brings his animals to the library on Wednesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. Joining Jason will be Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, chicks, hedgehogs, lizards, bunnies and many more animals. Children ages 5 and up can pet the animals, enjoy the fun farm music and dance.

 “Time for Twos,” a special program for two year olds with stories and fun will be held on Thursday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. This is a ticketed program, limited to the first 25 children to arrive. Tickets can be picked up a half hour before the start of the program. 

At 4 p.m., Drop-in- Crafts for ages 3 ½ to 7 is scheduled. Each session has a theme, such as creating animals, using paper, paint, and markers.

“Baby Yoga for Pre-Walkers,” a time for parents and caregivers to enjoy a moment practicing yoga with babies who are not yet walking, will be held on Friday, July 29, at 10 a.m. This yoga class will integrate stretching, strength building and mindfulness meditation.
