Jlcw Seeks To Gain Volunteers At Semi Annual Event

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – In an effort to boost recruitment, the Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) is set to host its semi-annual “informational coffees” at historic Wayside Cottage in Scarsdale.

At 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 and 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, women from Eastchester, Greenburgh, Scarsdale and White Plains dedicated to volunteer work are invited to attend the semi-annual recruiting events.

Women of all races, religions and nationalities who are devoted to helping others are invited to become members.

“The JLCW is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers,” media Co-Chair Christine Pasqueralle said in a statement.

At the informational sessions, current members will inform prospects of the JLCW’s efforts to improve the lives of the less fortunate, as well as the activities that help support these initiatives.

“Joining the JLCW provides opportunities for volunteers to impact their community in a meaningful way,” Pasqueralle said. “They will benefit from training in a variety of programs, and foster lifelong friendships and relationships with fellow volunteers.”

New members will be trained while completing a short-term community service project. In 2012, new members conducted a diaper drive that collected more than 55,000 diapers for local children. In the spring, new members sponsored a “Family Funday” tag sale to raise money for local charities.

The projects are designed to help the community, allow members to familiarize themselves with the league and begin networking with fellow volunteers.

“I am excited to welcome a new group of dynamic women to the JLCW who share our commitment of making a meaningful impact in our community,” Julie King, president of the JLCW, said. “Our membership includes professional executives to stay-at-home moms and everyone in between, I look forward to calling them my friends and working with them on many projects in the future.”

Women interested in attending the informational coffees are asked to RSVP by Monday, Jan. 20 at jlcw@verizon.net or by phone to (914) 723-6130.
