The tryouts are for Jewish athletes between the ages of 10 and 12. The Maccabi Games offer Jewish students the chance to participate in an Olympic-style sporting event. It is the largest Jewish children’s event in the world.
Basketball tryouts will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 10 and 17 for boys, and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on March 10 for girls. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on March 10, all participants playing soccer will have their tryout.
Those interested in competing in tennis, swimming or table tennis should contact Delegation Head Steven Weisbrot at 914-472-7642 or weisbrots@jccmw.org.
The Maccabi Games promote community involvement, teamwork and religious pride. There is an Opening Ceremony and evening activities that encourage interaction among athletes and artists who travel to the event from around the world.
This year’s Junior Games will take place on May 5 in Philadelphia.
