WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Nature Centers across Westchester will host events on Sunday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 18.

Here is a rundown of programs:

Sunday, Oct. 12: 

Geological Time Capsule Exploration – 2 p.m. Look at different rock formations through time from the inside out. Marshlands Conservancy, Route 1, Rye – (914) 835-4466.

Saturday, Oct. 18: 

Pre-history of Croton Point – 9:30 a.m. Explore Croton Point’s deep pre-history, from 6,000-year-old shell midens to contact era treaties. For ages 10 and up. Croton Point Park, Croton Point Avenue, Croton-on-Hudson – 914-862-5297. Fall Shelter Building – 2 p.m. Learn the dos and don’ts of shelter building while building your own. Marshlands Conservancy, Route 1, Rye – 914-835-4466. 

Hawk Watch – 10 a.m. Bring a chair and binoculars for sightings of hawks and other birds of prey heading south for the winter. Lenoir Preserve, 19 Dudley St., Yonkers – 914-968-5851. 

Fall Scavenger Hunt – 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Stop by the nature center for a list of items to search for during a walk through the preserve. Lenoir Preserve.

Hike to Untermeyer Park – 10 a.m. A hike along the Old Croton Aqueduct trail to the park in Yonkers. Meet at the nature center. Lenoir Preserve. 

Stewards Annual Meeting – Noon – 3 p.m. All are welcome to join this organization for the meeting, then to make trail mix afterward. Sponsored by the Stewards of Cranberry Lake. Cranberry Lake Preserve, 1609 Old Orchard St., North White Plains – 914-428-1005.

Annual Fall Festival at Read Sanctuary – Noon – 5 p.m. Live animals and a birds of prey demonstration, storytelling, a pumpkin patch, food and more. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Playland Park, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye – 9914-967-8720. 

Fall Foliage Hike – 1 p.m. Join the naturalist for a hike to admire the beautiful fall colors at the reservation.  Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Route 35 and 121 South, Cross River -- 914-864-7322.
