Darien High Gets New Assistant Principal

DARIEN, Conn. – Ellen Spark will take over as the new assistant principal at Darien High School in the fall, Superintendent Stephen Falcone announced. She will be replacing Donna Russo, who retired at the end of this year after serving in the post for 15 years.

Spark is leaving her post as district director of guidance in the Region 15 school district, which serves Middlebury and Southbury. She supervises the counseling staff at the elementary, middle and high school levels, monitoring the development of guidance curriculum, coordination of testing and implementation of the master schedule. She has chaired the district Strategic Planning Action Team and serves as a TEAM mentor and reflection reviewer.

Before working in Region 15, she was the director of school counseling in the Amity Regional Schools. She has been a school counselor in Glastonbury and education coordinator at MIT Wellesley Upward Bound and a student activities coordinator at Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Mass. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Boston.
