SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Following the success of the first round of author appearances, the Scarsdale Public Library has chosen to invite another series of writers to host discussions in the coming months.

Scarsdale resident Julie Gerstenblatt, an English teacher who turned toward writing, currently writes for local newspapers and the Huffington Post. On Nov. 28, she will discuss her first self-published novel, “Lauren Takes Leave,” a book about a suburban educator who needs time away from her busy life.

Karen Bergreen will continue the series Dec. 4 when she shares insight on “Perfect is Overrated,” a novel about an indecisive heroine. Bergreen was raised in New York City and attended Harvard University, where she graduated with a degree in European history before studying law at the University of Minnesota.

Finishing this round of author speeches Dec. 11 will be Eleanor Ehrenhranz. Ehrenhranz will discuss her book, “Explaining Life: The Wisdom of Modern Jewish Poetry 1960-2010.” The book compiles more than 100 poems from American and Israeli poets that speak of love, loss, relationships, death, alienation, war and renewal. The author is currently a professor at Pace University, and received her doctorate from New York University.

All appearances will be at 7:30 p.m. at the library.

“We are so pleased at the positive reception our author series is receiving,” said Elizabeth Bermel, the executive director of the Scarsdale Public Library. “We look forward to continuing this program and welcoming more talented artists to the library in 2013 and beyond.”
