Murky Forecast Washes Out Scarsdale Fireworks Show

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale is going to have to hold off on celebrating Independence Day, as the inclement weather forecast has forced the Parks and Recreation Department to delay Fourth of July festivities.

According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms are set to roll through the area at approximately 11 p.m., continuing through Friday night before the sun is expected to make a reappearance on Saturday.

A severe thunderstorm watch was put into effect by the National Weather Service until 10 p.m. on Thursday. A flash flood warning will be in effect through Friday morning.

Due to the forecast, the July 3rd Firework Spectacular has been cancelled, and the Westchester Band concert that was scheduled for Thursday night will take place at the Scarsdale High School auditorium at 8 p.m. It has not been determined if there will be a rain date for the fireworks show.

The July 4 carnival at the Scarsdale Pool Complex, which will be open Friday, has been postponed until Saturday. The carnival and picnic will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will continue until 4 p.m.
