Alfred Dreyfus, a young, Jewish officer in the French Army, was convicted in 1895 of treason and imprisoned on Devil’s Island in a conspiracy fraught with anti-Semitism. The novel focuses on a high ranking French officer who slowly uncovers the conspiracy that wrongly convicted Dreyfus.
