Internationally renowned painter, sculptor and printmaker Nicole Eisenman, who spent her formative years growing up in the village, is bringing a selection of her work back to Scarsdale for an active discussion moderated by Laura Hoptman, the curator of contemporary art in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.

According to a statement from Westchester Reform Temples announcing Eisenman’s visit, her portfolio “ranges from the absurd and irreverent to the abject and meditative.” She draws on classical mythology and historical canon to create pieces that captivate audiences of all ages.

Eisenman’s work is currently being featured at the Institute of Contemporary Art Philadelphia and Manifesta 10 in Russia. She was awarded the Anonymous Was a Woman Award this year and the Carnegie Prize last year.

The discussion with Eisenman will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Westchester Reform Temple. Admission is free and reservations are not required.
