SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Once again Chase Park will be filled with art as The Scarsdale Art Association hosts its 75th annual Outdoor Art Festival.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, Sept. 28 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29. The rain date is the following weekend.
More than 40 artists will display watercolors, oils, computer art, fabric art, sculpture, photography and pottery. The subject matter includes landscapes, seascapes, the dance, portraits, still life, abstracts and fantasy. Association artists include professionals, award-winning amateurs and many who have developed their talent outside their full-time occupations.
“This casual outdoor atmosphere gives viewers and artists the chance to discuss art in a most relaxed, informal way," said association President Gina Thorne in a prepared statement. "Oftentimes, people find just what they need to fulfill the décor in a room or to provide a special gift at an affordable price.”
In addition, the festival’s co-chairs, Isabel Becker and Sylvia Fox, have arranged for musical entertainment, Zumba and face painting for children.
'The idea is to create an environment of fun built around art.” Becker said in the statement.
A watercolor by award-winning artist Edna Ortof will be raffled off Sept. 29. Free chances are available to all who attend and the winner need not be present to claim the prize.
Chase Park is in downtown Scarsdale, one block from the Scarsdale train station across from the post office.
The Scarsdale Art Association is open to amateurs and weekend artists, as well as professionals from the commercial and academic world. For membership information, email email@example.com.
