SCARSDALE, N.Y. – With Halloween fast approaching, students and children in will once again have the opportunity to bring the spooky to Scarsdale as local business owners gear up for the annual window painting contest.

Each year, children, teams and families partner up to paint some of the finest pumpkins, ghouls, ghosts, black cats and other Halloween fan favorites directly on participating window fronts in the business district, giving the village a unique feel in advance of Oct. 31.

All youth in Grades 3-10 who attend any Scarsdale school are eligible for the window-painting contest. The parent-child collaborations are not officially in the competition and are designed for students in first and second grade.

All entries will be awarded with participation ribbons.

Last year, nearly 1,000 residents participated in the popular seasonal contest that brings out the artist in every village resident. In addition to the window painting, there will be a costume parade held in the streets surrounding Chase Park

The annual Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce Halloween Window Painting Contest will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30. In addition to the window painting, there will be a costume parade held in the streets surrounding Chase Park beginning at 2:45 p.m., complete with entertainment and refreshments served by Lange's Deli.

Those interested in participating can register online before Sunday, Oct. 23 on the village’s Department of Recreation website .
