Scarsdale Music School Plans Concert In Memory Of Long-Time Faculty Member

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Hoff-Barthelson Music School announced it will host a concert in memory of Edmund Niemann, a long-time member of the faculty at the Scarsdale school, in October.

Niemann, who joined the Hoff-Barthelson faculty in 1999, died Aug. 13 in New York. he was 70. Niemann was the director of the school's Festival of Contemporary Music and was featured in a Daily Voice story prior to the festival in June.

Niemann served as a member of the piano and advanced level musicianship faculties. He was an ardent advocate for the study and performance of contemporary music. He also created the school’s Performers Showcase.

The concert, featuring performances by the school’s faculty, students and alumni, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at Hoff-Barthelson, 25 School Lane in Scarsdale. A reception will follow.
