Scarsdale's Hoff-Barthels Music School Explores Africa In Free Concert

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Hoff-Barthelson Music School will present the music of Senegal and the Congo at Music of Africa on Oct. 4.

The free concert will showcase the unique rhythms, instruments, dances, melodies and harmonies of Africa. It is the school's fourth annual concert in the Global Harmonies series. 

Ngor Jallow and Nkumu Isaac Kataly, of Education in Dance and the Related Arts, will demonstrate native instruments such as a 21-string lute-bridge harp, a thumb piano and more during the performance. The concert will feature audience participation moments in call and response songs and some African dances. 

Music of Africa begins at 2 p.m. The Music School is at 25 School Lane. in Scarsdale.
