Pedestrian Hospitalized In Leesburg With Serious Injuries After Being Struck By Driver

A pedestrian was hospitalized overnight after being struck by a driver while he attempted to cross a busy Virginia intersection in Leesburg.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, members of the Leesburg Police Department Traffic Management Unit were called to a stretch of Edwards Ferry Road NE near Heritage Way NE when a man was struck by a vehicle.

The man - whose name has not been released by the police - suffered “serious injuries,” and was transported to INOVA Loudoun Hospital at the Lansdowne Campus, where he is reportedly in stable condition, a department spokesperson said on Thursday, Oct. 20.

According to police, the preliminary investigation determined that a woman was driving east on Edwards Ferry Road when the man crossed the roadway and was struck. The spokesperson said that the woman remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Leesburg Police Department was assisted by state police and the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.

Officials say that the crash remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department TMU.
