Westchester Business Group Plans Tarrytown ACA Session

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A new event series has been designed to give the Westchester business community the chance to learn from some of the region’s most knowledgeable, influential and strategic thinkers, the Westchester County Association has announced.

This first Business Intel event is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Tappan Hill Mansion, 81 Highland Ave., Tarrytown. (Directions for GPS should be entered as 200 Gunpowder Lane, Tarrytown.)

Through an array of events for members and the business community at large, Business Intel will feature hot topics, trends and tips (“business intel”) from leaders in health care, finance, real estate, technology, and more. First up is “Health Care Reform 2.0,” a breakfast for employers and employees on Thursday, April 3, featuring Kevin Smith, Northeast exchange solutions leader with Mercer, offering strategies and guidance on evolving health care insurance models.

Essential topics covered include: why businesses need to make decisions now about health insurance coverage for their employees — even with recent delays in Affordable Care Act implementation; the array of solutions available under private exchanges; how being complacent about the ACA could be harmful for your business; results on how public exchanges have fared since the launch of the ACA.

“Even with current delays in implementing components of the Affordable Care Act, there’s no room for complacency. Employers — and their employees — need to pay urgent attention to the current health insurance landscape,” said Amy Allen, WCA’s managing director of advocacy. “The WCA has long been a proactive voice for business and an organization that provides critical information, connectivity and leadership. Business Intel fits squarely within our mission in helping to educate companies about issues directly affecting the business community.”

Ample time for networking and Q&A is planned. Registration for the event is $50 for WCA members and $70 for nonmembers and is available at http://www.westchester.org.

The event is sponsored by Cohn Reznick and Mercer. For sponsorship opportunities, contact Laura Montopoli at 948-6444.
