What To Do Around Scarsdale This Week

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale residents can stay busy this week, as there is plenty to do in the village. The JCC of Mid-Westchester is hosting swing dance classes and an author will discuss her latest book at the library. See our Events Page for a complete list of local and county events.

Monday, Oct. 15

Google Suite class: 7 p.m. The Scarsdale Adult School teaches residents how to utilize Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Picasa and more. $105. 1057 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Municipal Services Committee: 7 p.m. The Scarsdale Municipal Services Committee will meet to discuss land use and business process. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Library Board of Trustees: 7:30 p.m. The Library Board has its monthly meeting. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Board of Architectural Review: 7:30 p.m. The Board has its only meeting of the month. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

Donald P. Green Lecture: 3:30 p.m. Listen to the author speak about voting behavior, partisanship, campaign finance, hate crime and research methods, free. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

Children’s story time: 4 p.m. Story time is offered once a week for children ages three to five. The stories focus on longer picture books, flannel board stories, poetry and movement.

Swing dance classes: 7:30 p.m. This six-week course is for adults with basic experience. Will be held on Tuesday evenings through Nov. 20 at the JCC of Mid-Westchester Dance School. $25. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.

Wednesday, Oct. 17 

WNC Nature Kids: 12:30 p.m. The Weinberg Nature Center introduces children to nature. The preschool drop-off class will feature live animals, stories, collages, crafts and games. $175 for eight sessions. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Author discussion: 7:30 p.m. Author Susan Shapiro Barash will discuss her book, “The Nine Phases of Marriage.” 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Scarsdale GOP meeting: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Republicans meet at Village Hall. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale. 

Thursday, Oct. 18 

Mother Goose Walkers: 10:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Bird presentation: 7 p.m. Sandy Morrissey, founder of the Easter Bluebird Project, gives a multimedia presentation on the progress and stories from monitoring more than 400 nesting boxes in the county. 50 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Scarsdale Democratic Town Committee: 8 p.m. Scarsdale Democrats host a meeting at Village Hall. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.
