What To Do Around Scarsdale This Week

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – There will be no shortages of events scheduled for Scarsdale residents this week. Have your child learn how to play chess on Tuesday or see a movie at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville on Thursday. See our Events Page for a complete list of local and county events.

 

Monday, Oct. 22

Google Suite class: 7 p.m. The Scarsdale Adult School teaches residents how to utilize Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Picasa and more. $105. 1057 Post Road, Scarsdale. 

Board of Education: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Education will meet at Fox Meadow to discuss district happenings.

Tuesday, Oct. 23 

Chess for children: 6:30 p.m. John Gallagher will host an introductory class into the strategies of chess. Registration is required at the Scarsdale Public Library. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Swing dance classes: 7:30 p.m. This six-week course is for adults with basic experience. Will be held on Tuesday evenings through Nov. 20 at the JCC of Mid-Westchester Dance School. $25. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale. 

Get ready for college: 7:30 p.m. High school students and their parents are invited to spend an evening with the decision-makers in college admissions at the JCC of Mid-Westchester. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.

Board of Trustees: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Trustees will have its bi-weekly meeting.

Wednesday, Oct. 24

WNC Nature Kids: 12:30 p.m. The Weinberg Nature Center introduces children to nature. The preschool drop-off class will feature live animals, stories, collages, crafts and games. $175 for eight sessions. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Film screening: 6:30 p.m. The Art of Teaching Program and Child Development Institute at Sarah Lawrence College will present the film “August to June: Bringing Life to School.” RSVP to artofteaching@slc.edu. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville. 

Planning Board: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Planning Board will have its only meeting in the month of October to discuss proposed property changes. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale. 

Thursday, Oct. 25

Mother Goose Walkers: 10:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Ruthless! The Musical: 7 p.m. A wicked, clever, dark comedy that combines themes and plots from “The Bad Seed,” “Gypsy” and “All About Eve” to tell the story of a young housewife whose talented 8-year-old daughter is destined for fame.
