What To Do Around Scarsdale This Week

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – There will be plenty to do around Scarsdale this week. Students will have a short week of classes, as Thanksgiving break starts on Wednesday, and several meetings will be conducted on Monday. See our Events Page for a complete list of local and county events.

Monday, Nov. 19

Land Use Committee: 6:30 p.m. A joint meeting of the Law and Land Use committees will address historic preservation and recommendations from the advisory committee. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Celebrating Art History: 7 p.m. Elizabeth Thompson Colleary will enlighten Scarsdale Adult School students with a class that pays homage to the European modernists and their American contemporaries, with works shown at the Lexington Avenue Armory. $55. 1057 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Board of Architectural Review: 7:30 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Architectural Review will host its final meeting of the month. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Board of Education: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Education will host a meeting at Heathcote Elementary School. 26 Palmer Ave., Scarsdale.

Tuesday, Nov. 20

Story Tme: 4 p.m. This weekly program is for children ages 3-5. Stories focus on longer picture books, flannelboard stories, poetry and movement. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Book Club: 7 p.m. The Scarsdale Public Library is hosting a book club for fourth-graders. Participants will be reading and discussing “The Whipping Boy,” by Sid Fleischman. Register here. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Swing Dance Class: 7:30 p.m. The final class of a six-week course for adults with basic experience will be held on Tuesday evening. JCC of Mid-Westchester Dance School. $25. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.

Wednesday, Nov. 21

Thanksgiving Break: Scarsdale schools are closed.

FitWalk Series: This dynamic workout program will incorporate strength, cardio, speed drills, agility and functional training. 2 Lake Ave., Tuckahoe.

Teen Writing Group: 4 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will host a writing group for teenagers that is open to students in grades six and above. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Thursday, Nov. 22

Thanksgiving: Village Hall, local schools and the Scarsdale Public Library will be closed.
