What To Do Around Scarsdale This Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Several children’s programs and an adventure at the Weinberg Nature Center highlight some of the events planned in and around Scarsdale this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 28

Mother Goose For Tots: 9:30 a.m. This program of songs,  rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Kid’s Film: 10:30 a.m. The Scarsdale Public Library will screen Disney’s “Brave” for children. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Community Yoga: 7:30 p.m. This mixed-level class will be taught by recent teacher-trainee graduates. Yoga Haven, 91 Montgomery Ave., Scarsdale.

Music at the Park: 9:30 p.m. Park 143 Bistro will showcase guest artist John James playing rock and soul. Guests will receive a free Park Bellini. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.

Saturday, Dec. 29

Defensive Driving registration: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration begins for a Jan. 12 class. Checks can be made payable to the AARP for $19. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Babies And Bagels: 9:15 a.m. This informal, drop-in playgroup is for babies and toddlers with their moms, dads, caregivers and grandparents. All are welcome. No fee. Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Children’s Art Class: 9:45 a.m. Children ages 3-5 can gain confidence in self-expression through painting, sculpting, drawing, collage, dramatic play and more at Gymboree. 450 Central Park Ave., Scarsdale.

Animal Adventures: 11 a.m. Visit the Weinberg Nature Center for an hour long adventure where kids can meet furry, feathery, scaly, slimy and cuddly animals. $3. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Sunday, Dec. 30

Coffee Hour: 11:30 a.m. Scarsdale Congregational Church hosts a coffee hour every Sunday immediately following services. It is a chance to catch up with friends and neighbors, and meet new ones. All ages are welcome. 1 Heathcote Road, Scarsdale.

Story Circle: 1 p.m. Hear popular Charles Dickens stories illustrated by Jerry Pinkney. $5 511 Warburton Ave., Yonkers.
