What To Do Around Scarsdale This Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The annual tree lighting, several library events and the beginning of Hanukkah highlight some of the events planned in Scarsdale this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 7

Mother Goose for prewalkers: 9:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Candy tasting: 11 a.m. Imagine Candy will have Belgian chocolate, chocolate pretzels and candy for tasting. 22 Harwood Court, Scarsdale.

Tree lighting: 4 p.m. The village will host its annual holiday tree lighting. Santa Claus will make an appearance, and there will be music from the Hoff-Barthelson Music School. 17 Boniface Circle, Scarsdale.

Community yoga: 7:30 p.m. This mixed-level class will be taught by recent teacher trainee graduates. Yoga Haven, 91 Montgomery Ave., Scarsdale

Coffeehouse: 8 p.m. There will be coffee, snacks and musical acts at the Bronxville Women’s Club in Bronxville. $5. 135 Midland Ave., Bronxville.

Music at the park: 9:30 p.m. Park 143 Bistro showcases artists in various musical genres. Guests will receive a free Park Bellini. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.

Saturday, Dec. 8

Hanukkah: Begins at sundown.

Babies and Bagels: 9:15 a.m. This informal, drop-in playgroup is for babies and toddlers with their moms, dads, caregivers and grandparents. All are welcome. No fee. Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Parachute Playtime: 10:30 a.m. Children with caregivers share interactive play that promotes physical and social development as well as increased coordination and teamwork. Register online. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Wag Your Tale, Too!: 3 to 4 p.m. Share a book with a story-loving dog or just cuddle with one. Geared to special-needs kids but all are welcome. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Tennis Play Day Jamboree: 4 p.m. Kids ages 3 through 10 are invited to play at the Yonkers Tennis Center in a fun, non-threatening, non-elimination competitive environment. $25. 493 Sprain Road, Yonkers.

Sunday, Dec. 9

Holidayfest: 11 a.m. There will be holiday music, live reindeer and Santa Claus is coming to town for the Crestwood Holidayfest. Columbus and Fisher Avenues near the Crestwood Railroad Station.

Yoga-A-Go-Go: 1:30 p.m. A yoga class for children with special needs. Designed to help a child with focus and balance, as well as with self-acceptance and confidence. Traditional yoga poses have been modified into a playful, non-judgmental format for fun and relaxation. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Magic show: 3 p.m. Magician Benjamin Levy will host a performance in Yonkers. There will be light refreshments served before the show. $15. 511 Warburton Ave., Yonkers.

Chamber Music: 4 p.m. The student chamber groups at Sarah Lawrence College will perform music from a variety of composers. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.
