What To Do Around Scarsdale This Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A free community yoga class, a master cello concert and tree trimming party are just some of the events scheduled around Scarsdale this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 14

Mother Goose for Tots: 9:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Gymnasium Dedication: 7:30 p.m. The Edgemont School District will dedicate the High School’s gymnasium to longtime physical education teacher Jim San Marco. 200 White Oak Lane, Scarsdale.

Community Yoga: 7:30 p.m. This mixed-level class will be taught by recent teacher-trainee graduates. Yoga Haven, 91 Montgomery Ave., Scarsdale

Coffeehouse: 8 p.m. There will be coffee, snacks and musical acts at the Bronxville Women’s Club in Bronxville. $5. 135 Midland Ave., Bronxville.

Music at the Park: 9:30 p.m. Park 143 Bistro will showcase guest artist John James, playing rock and soul music. Guests will receive a free Park Bellini. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.

Saturday, Dec. 15

Firewood Sale: 9 a.m. Boy Scout Troop #1 will be selling firewood at the Bronxville Boy Scout Cabin. Twenty percent of proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project. 1820 Midland Ave., Bronxville.

Babies and Bagels: 9:15 a.m. This informal, drop-in playgroup is for babies and toddlers with their moms, dads, caregivers and grandparents. All are welcome. No fee. Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Master Class Concert: 2 p.m. Internationally recognized lecturer and master teacher Pamela Davenport will kick off the Master Class Series with the Hoff-Barthelson Music School cello students. 25 School Lane, Scarsdale.

Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser: 7 p.m. Join teens from throughout the county to raise money for hurricane victims. $20. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.

Sunday, Dec. 16

Memory, Narrative, Image: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This creative aging program is designed to use oral history as an inspiration for making art. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Tree-Trimming: 1 p.m. Naturalist Dean Fausel will make tree-trimming treats for wildlife friends and will decorate trees at the Greenburgh Nature Center with the bounty. $5 for members; $8 for non-members; $25 for families. 99 Dromore Road, Greenburgh.

Festival of Lessons and Carols: 4 p.m. Enjoy a one-hour festival of lessons and carols. There will be gospel and contemporary Christian Christmas music with short scripture readings. 5 Strathmore Road, Scarsdale.

Women’s Vocal Ensemble: 5 p.m. The Sarah Lawrence Chamber Choir will perform a free concert with the women’s vocal ensemble. 1 Mead Way, Yonkers.
