What To Do Around Scarsdale This Holiday Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – There is no shortage of things to do around Scarsdale this holiday weekend. There are several programs for children at the public library, and the Scarsdale Art Association will have a reception at the Girl Scout House. Saturday, Nov. 10

“We’re All One of a Kind": 10 a.m. There will be songs, fun and laughter with musician Kurth Gallager in this music program designed for children with special needs at the Scarsdale Public Library. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Preschool Open House: 10 a.m. The French-American School of New York is hosting an open house for parents to learn about the bi-lingual and bi-cultural programs at the facility 85 Palmer Ave., Scarsdale.

Girl Scout Tag Sale: 10 a.m. The Girl Scouts will host their annual tag sale featuring household goods, books, clothing, shoes and more. Proceeds will benefit Girl Scout Award Projects. 31 Wayside Lane, Scarsdale.

Animal adventures: 11 a.m. The Weinberg Nature Center is inviting families to go on an hour-long adventure where they will meet and interact with a variety of animals. $3. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Card-making workshop: 1 p.m. The Bronxville Public Library is having a free card-making workshop for kids. The theme this week will be Harry Potter. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Sunday, Nov. 11

Fashion show: Eastchester High School students will put on a fashion show at Lake Isle Country Club. 660 White Plains Road, Eastchester.

Coffee Hour: 11:30 a.m. The Scarsdale Congregational Church will host its weekly coffee hour immediately after worship services. This Sunday is Children’s Day. 1 Heathcote Road, Scarsdale.

Art Association Show: 1 p.m. The Scarsdale Art Association will hold its first meeting and reception at the Leahey Gallery in the Girl Scout House. 31 Wayside Lane, Scarsdale.

Yoga-A-Go-Go: 1:30 p.m. A yoga class for children with special needs. Designed to help a child with focus and balance, as well as with self-acceptance and confidence. Traditional yoga poses have been modified into a playful, non-judgmental format for fun and relaxation. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Swinging Sundays: 4 p.m. The Friends of the Scarsdale Public Library kicks off this season of the Swinging Sunday series with jazz bassist, lyricist and occasional singer Jay Leonhart. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Monday, Nov. 12

Veteran’s Day: Scarsdale schools, and Village Hall are closed.

Vacation Club: The Weinberg Nature Center will take children on adventures they won’t forget. Monday’s camp will be about Native American village life. $55 per day or $45 for multiple sessions. 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Immigration Reform Panel: 5:30 p.m. There will be a discussion panel at Sarah Lawrence College with Razeen Zaman, Mizue Aizeki, Aygul Charles and Mayra Hidalgo on the Deferred Action Immigration Program and its political, legal, social and human implications.  The college is at 1 Mead Way, Yonkers.
