Monday, Oct. 8

Columbus Day: See our list of what is open and closed this holiday .

Columbus Day Carnival: 1 p.m.-6 p.m. The carnival will wrap up at Lake Isle Country Club. 660 White Plains Road, Eastchester.

SARG Fitness Women’s Boot Camp: 8 p.m. This class delivers one hour of high-intensity fun and motivating exercise to help women get and stay in shape. Participants perform cardio and strength training in a team environment. $18. 480 New Rochelle Road, Bronxville.

Tuesday, Oct. 9

Story Time for Toddlers: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Fun Craft hosts its biweekly story time. Each session includes crafts and a healthy snack, and will feature dancing to music and colorful lights. 590 Central Park Ave., Greenburgh.

Cooking Classes: 6:30 p.m. The jewels of the Italian forest — rich chestnuts, fresh walnuts and earthy mushrooms — usher in the season’s chilly nights and inspire this collection of warming autumn recipes, from pasta alle delizie d’autunno to polenta con sugo di salsiccia e vitello, concluding with a dessert, ai frutti di bosco.
