What To Do Around Scarsdale This Week

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A Scarsdale Board of Education meeting, author visit and creative arts program are just some of the events scheduled in Scarsdale this week.

Monday, Dec. 3

Committee of the Whole: 6:30 p.m. The Village of Scarsdale Board of Trustees is convening as a Committee of the Whole to discuss utility matters and to hear initial recommendations in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Exhibit Opening: 6:30 p.m. There will be an opening of the exhibit, “Presepio Napoletano.” $10. 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Board of Education: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Education will meet at Quaker Ridge Elementary School. 125 Weaver St., Scarsdale.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

Musical Munchkins: 9:30 a.m. This program includes a variety of musical experiences, such as singing, chanting, playing instruments and dancing. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Music Tuesday: 1:30 p.m. Sarah Lawrence College’s Chamber Ensemble will perform student compositions in the Reisinger Concert Hall. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

Author reading: 2 p.m. Author Lynne Schwartz, a PEN/Faulkner Award nominee will read some of her work in the Slonim Living Room at Sarah Lawrence College. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

Childbirth class: 7:30 p.m. Lawrence Hospital is offering childbirth classes for expectant parents. Parents can attend class on three consecutive Tuesdays, or complete the entire session on a single Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class costs $200 per couple. 55 Palmer Ave., Bronxville.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

Craft Talk: 2 p.m. Tao Lin will discuss “Kmart Realism,” a term applied to minimalist writers. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

Author visit: 7:30 p.m. Author Julie Gerstenblatt will visit the Scarsdale Public Library to discuss her latest book, “Lauren Takes Leave.” 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Thursday, Dec. 6

Memory, Narrative, Image: 10 a.m. to noon. This creative aging program is designed to use oral history as an inspiration for making art. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Mother Goose Walkers: 10:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.
