SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A soccer mini-camp, chess instruction for children and a joint meeting of the Scarsdale Board of Education and Trustees are among the events scheduled in the village this week.

Monday, Jan. 21

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Many public places around Scarsdale are closed in celebration of the holiday.

Soccer Camp: 9:30 a.m. Super Soccer Stars will keep kids active with a soccer mini-camp featuring 2 1/2 hours of soccer game play. For children up to age 5. $70. 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale.

Tuesday, Jan. 22

Better Body Challenge: 9:15 a.m. Trainer Tracey Gerety will host a fitness challenge. 76 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Chess for Children: 6:30 p.m. John Gallagher will give instruction on the strategies of chess for advanced students. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Board of Trustees: 8 p.m. There will be a meeting of the village Board of Trustees at Village Hall. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Board of Education: 8 p.m. The Scarsdale Board of Education will have a public meeting. 2 Brewster Road, Scarsdale.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

Committee of the Whole meeting: 5:30 p.m. The board of trustees are meeting as a committee of the whole for a discussion with Con Edison regarding Hurricane Sandy. 1001 Post Road, Scarsdale.

Thursday, Jan. 24

Mother Goose Walkers: 10:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Joint meeting: 6:30 p.m. The boards of trustees and education will have a joint meeting in the Scott Room at the Scarsdale Public Library. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.
