What To Do Around Scarsdale This Week

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – An orchestra concert, an advanced chess workshop for children and a children’s author visit are among the events scheduled around Scarsdale this week.

Monday, Feb. 4

Core Barre Fitness: 9:15 a.m. This workout uses a mat, body weight, blocks and the bar to tone the core and create lean muscle mass. $235. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

Spousal loss support group: 2:30 p.m. Open to adults that have lost a spouse or life partner at the Jansen Hospice office. 670 Post Road, Eastchester.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

Better Body Challenge: 9:15 a.m. Trainer Tracey Gerety will host a fitness challenge. 76 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Musical Munchkins: 9:30 a.m. This program includes a variety of musical experiences, such as singing, chanting, playing instruments and dancing. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Music Tuesdays: 1:30 p.m. The Outreach Orchestra is an ensemble of the internationally renowned Outreach Festival in Austria. 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

Drop-in story time: 4 p.m. Parents are welcome to drop their children off at the public library for stories. Designed for children ages 3-5. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Chess for Children: 6:30 p.m. John Gallagher will give instruction on the strategies of chess for advanced students. 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

Author visit: 4 p.m. Children’s author Randy Siegal will visit the Scarsdale Public Library to talk about his new book, “My Snake Blake.” 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Thursday, Feb. 7

Mother Goose Walkers: 10:30 a.m. This program of songs, rhymes and books is designed for children up to age 2. Scarsdale Public Library, 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Film Festival: 7 p.m. The Westchester Region of Hadassah presents the final film of their Jewish Women Changing Their Worlds series with a screening of “Making Trouble.” 54 Olmsted Road, Scarsdale.

Comedy Night: 8 p.m. The New Rochelle Jewish Coalition will join Israel Bonds to present a comedy night at the JCC of Mid-Westchester. $36. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.
